I'm sitting in a limbo with my art right now - no personal venture I've explored has, as of yet, blossomed in the ways I'd envisioned. Late-realised neurodivergence is heavy, so I'm exploring that instead; thinking about how that feels and how it's affected my life and the art I have made. I'm finding myself, in little ways, through it.
I draw, traditionally and digitally. I design, mainly for print but also for digital and web use. I write stories that are still begging me to be finished and told. This is primarily for the pleasure of building other worlds, though also to let a younger version of me have her way.
I'm drawn to the surreal - in this, sometimes, a specific rejection of perfect anatomy - and the familiar feeling of being disconnected, of feeling 'other' in distinct ways. There is a gentle horror in it that I find an odd comfort in. I like to learn how things work - "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." I like to feel like I'm a human on the internet and not a trademarked content machine gasping against the waves of an all-consuming algorithm-beast. I really like noodles too.
